NEW YORK (Reuters) - New York City-based Viagra maker Teva Pharmaceuticals Corp. is changing its business model in an effort to bolster the pharmaceutical industry and help people pay for their prescriptions.
"We are very pleased to be able to offer a business model that will be able to pay for our prescriptions in a way that's sustainable and affordable for us," Teva CEO Michael J. Cusack said in a statement.
The move, made by Teva Pharmaceuticals, is part of a multi-billion dollar business that is being led by a group of about 100 other companies, including Pfizer Inc, a British drug maker.
"Our goal is to bring our customers to our new, more affordable, high-value pharmacies to help them pay for their prescriptions and to help them to get a better quality of life," J. David Carr, president of the Food and Drug Administration, said in a statement.
